Black Beauty was the only book written by Anna Sewell, although its continued popularity among children, particularly girls, has justified that effort. Sewell was, remarkably, paid only twenty pounds for the book and it was published three months before her death, in 1877. However, its immediate success gave her great pleasure and she died in the knowledge that the book had indeed encouraged people to treat animals less cruelly.
It is the autobiography of a horse, the black Beauty of the title, who narrates it. Through various owners who ask different tasks of Black Beauty, he grows and has numerous adventures. He goes from being a riding and carriage horse through being a mistreated town cab horse to eventual happiness in a secure home. Notably, the animal keeps strength and good temper throughout his suffering and the story was extremely influential as pro-animal propaganda but it is also an extremely exciting and moving children's story.

读了这本书，我看到了人类的无情，也看到了人类的善良。希望这世界上多一些善良的人，少一些冷漠与无情！
今年寒假，我读了一篇关于动物的小说——《黑骏马》。
《黑骏马》出自英国作家安娜？西韦尔笔下，从黑骏马的角度观察人间的善恶美丑。主要讲了一匹优种黑马因一次意外摔坏了膝盖，从此被多次转卖，饱尝人间冷暖，也见识了许多人：骗子、小偷、车夫、伦敦佬……值得庆幸的是，黑骏马最终被卖到一个庄园，主人答应永远不会卖掉它。
《黑骏马》中有许多感人的情节，给我印象最深的，是这样一个情节：一座小桥被洪水冲断了。夜晚，黑骏马拉着马车要过桥，车上坐着主人。黑骏马刚一踏上桥头，就感觉不对劲儿，无论主人怎样喝斥，黑骏马也不愿向前半步。最终，桥对面的管理员告诉了主人真相。主人很是欣慰。读到这里，我真替黑骏马感到骄傲，对它的聪明赞叹不已。正如书中所说：“你不得不承认，在有些方面，动物比人类要强许多。”我甚至也想拥有这样一匹聪明优秀的马儿来作为日夜陪伴我的伙伴。
但黑骏马之后的遭遇令我十分伤心。

书虽然读完了，但人类对动物的关爱永远不能结束。动物虽然不能表达，但它们有着自己对事物的看法，也懂得感恩。我相信，只要我们善待动物，它们也一定会回报人类，并且有可能会得到我们意想不到的结果。
_Animals deserve our kindness, sympathy and understanding,_ that is what Anna Sewell－the author of Black Beauty－wanted to convince her readers. Thanks to Sewell, I now think about the animal－human relationship from both the human and the animals point of view.
The inspiration for Anna Sewells novel was drawn from her own relationship with horses. Anna Sewell was born on March 20th, 1820 in Norfolk, England and was crippled while still very young. Due to her disability, she relied on horse-drawn carriages and grew to love horses as a result. She also became appalled by the careless and cruel treatment horses often received from humans and determined to write a the second year of work on the book, she was told that she had only eighteen months to live, but she persevered in order _to induce kindness, sympathy and an understanding [of the ] treatment of horses._ Five years later, she was still working on Black Beauty, her only book. Unfortunately, Sewell died a few months after publication and never learned of the books huge success. Black Beauty formed an impassioned plea for animal rights at a time when such a notion had been dismissed as ridiculous.
The novel portrayed the real condition of working horses living in Britain during the Victorian Era. In that time period, the wealthy thought that their horses were treated well because they never stepped into the stable. In order to call peoples attention to horses hard life, Sewell tells the story through the first-person narrative voice of a horse. This innovative personification of an animal made the book a real success. Readers heard the stories straight from the horses mouth, literally, as an animal spoke of extremes of joy and suffering. People were shocked by the truth exposed by the novel and changed their attitudes towards animals.
Sewell formed the novel with three kinds of characters: Black Beauty, Ginger and other farm animals. Through their different experiences, I saw similarly painful lives led by the animals. This method made the earnest appeal for animal rights become more and more persuasive.
As a domestic animal, Black Beauty was continuously sold from one family to another. Over the years Beauty enjoyed good masters but also endured mean ones. Sometimes, he was cared for and at other times tortured. In the end, everything turns out all right in a story that is so tender and yet meaningful. His story was so vivid that caught the readers heart. The novel brought people laughter and tears and also enlightened them to understand animals at the same time.
Animals cannot speak so understanding is significant to them. Once, for example, Beauty was drawing the carriage to a wooden bridge. The bridge was flooded out in the river and John, the groom, was not aware that it was cracked. But the quickly realized that something was wrong because of Beautys abnormal behavior. Momentarily, a man shouted to them, _Stop! Stop!…The bridge is broken in the middle. If you come across, youll fall in the river!_ Beauty had saved John. However, if John had not tried to understand what Beauty wanted to tell him, there would definitely have been an accident. I learnt from the story that understanding animals is not only essential to them but is also beneficial to us ourselves.
_Black horse_ is the first English novel that I read in mint reading, to begin to choose this book is very hesitant, because want to read _pride and prejudice_ so we chose the series, but when I really started to read the book, I am deeply impressed by him, it is a world in which I have never come into contact with, a world belong to the horse.

人是侑感情的，但并不代表动物没侑感情（人是高级哺乳动物，动物是哺乳动物，人是猿猴的进化，猿猴是动物）。黑骏马这本书正是说明了这句话，难道不是吗？
我终于把我的“敌人”黑骏马这本书给读完了。节假日变成读书日了，今天又看完了《黑骏马》这本书，所以又来写博拉。
